LKO in Spain and L-KOPIA in Montana
Jan-Erik Gea of Prosutec is posing with the L-KOPIA laser during a short break in Tarragona, Spain. All measuring was performed at night. Not shown in the picture is Jan Luis Tosolini, Prosutec and the two drivers from ADIF (Spanish Rail). Per Arne Petterson of LKO is behind the camera.

Per Arne Pettersson of LKO went to Spain for a clearance survey in the beginning of July. It’s been a while since LKO performed contracting clearance surveys in southern Europe. The Spanish project was finished in one week (including mobilization and demobilization). The laser system was shipped to our Spanish Agent Prosutec in Madrid . Prosutec and LKO, performed the 275 km long clearance survey in three (3) night shifts and we took around 1,300 composite cross sections. Prosutec had planned all work with ADIF (ADIF is the administrator for the state owned railroad in Spain). The LKO/L-KOPIA LD Clearance Laser System was installed on a rail bound maintenance vehicle. The project covered the East Coast Line from Valencia to Tarragona. Post processing is ongoing and LKO will deliver the 1,300 frames (cross sections) next week.

LKO is still busy with Trafikverket in Sweden and we will be back with more details next month. We are also on the last leg of finishing the post processing for JBV (Norwegian State Railway). The JBV survey included over 4.000 cross sections and 80% are tunnels.

The picture shows the newest L-KOPIA F-350 laser truck entering the south portal of the Painted Robe tunnel near Lavina, MT. Gary Mitchell of L-KOPIA is behind the camera.

L-KOPIA is still busy in both the Pacific Northwest and in Illinois. We will now have a month long break in the Chicago areas since the customer will perform surfacing work on some of the tracks included in our survey (we always wait as surfacing can change the track position 1-3 inches).

L-KOPIA will soon travel to Canada for a couple of clearance and track center surveys. We have been scheduled for Canada since April 2010, but new rules on the work permit side have delayed us. L-KOPIA’s Canadian Lawyer informed us this week that the permits came to his office and we should have them @ L-KOPIA within another week.

Please contact us for more information on any of LKO or L-KOPIA’s projects.
